I couldn’t remember when the last time I wrote about one of our dates was, so I went back and checked. It has been a whopping two months since I gave you a date idea, so in my opinion, it’s time for another! The last date article I talked to you about was Traveling to Tokyo where I gave you some ideas to orchestrate a Japan themed date. Super fun! Tonight’s date night was brought to you by Jordan and his infinite wisdom. LOL. In all seriousness, I think he did way better than I ever have, so buckle up and let’s begin.
Lately, date nights have been pretty simple, which in turn is why I haven’t been writing about them. Honestly, who wants to read that we just sat and talked for an entire date time? Not me, but this week Jordan surprised me with an awesome out of the house causal date, and it was really needed.
Looking back I think we could safely say that the drama of this year has exhausted us into putting less effort into date night ideas. Which is never okay, but between COVID, riots, our government, and the personal stuff we’ve dealt with plus the normal grind, we are exhausted by the time date night comes rolling around. Not to mention we’ve had exactly no time to think of any spectacular ideas. It has kind of been a bummer, but Jordan broke that cycle through this date and it was awesome!
Before we get too far into our date I have to give my Father-in-law a shout out for being our last minute babysitter. He full out saved our evening! We really appreciated it!
In true Jordan fashion, this date started out as a surprise. When I say surprise, I knew it was the date night but he got home that night and told me I had about an hour to get read to go out. So to say I panicked would be an understatement. Luckily he said it was a more physical date so I could go a little more casual than normal.
Once we dropped off our daughter at her Grandpa’s, we headed to the mall and went to our first stop. Which, full disclosure, was suppose to be this cute little snack shop in our mall that has specialty candies, sodas, cotton candy, and much more. I’ve never bought anything from there and I really love cotton candy so I was excited, but unfortunately they were closed. I don’t really know what happened but they must not have been getting a lot of business or something because we pulled up ready to get some snacks, and they were shut down early.
I know what some of you are thinking, “What in the world is Country Axe?” Well I’ll tell you and I’ll also link in for you in case you’re ever in my area. Country Axe is exactly what it sounds like, an axe throwing venue with a country music theme through the whole building. It was super nice, and you just show up, pay your way, and you get a whole “lane” to yourselves for an entire hour to throw axes.
Pictures were taken from their Facebook page because I forgot to get some of the lay out.
Sounds easy, right? WRONG. This actually took a lot of skill to get the axe to rotate in the correct way, with not too much force so it actually stick. To say I’m surprised my how much skill it took would be a slight understatement but I am ten times more surprised to say that I actually loved it!! Something about this being low key violent and athletic really registered with me. I’m excited to do it again!
When we first were starting the owner said it takes about 20-40 minutes to get the technique down and I would say that he was completely correct. It took a lot of trial and error but we eventually got it. I was able to catch on much faster than Jordan but in the end Jordan was able to be more consistent with throwing and ended up winning every game we tried to play.
The Boulder Tap House
Man, if you’re not from around here you are probably lost again, but the Tap House is a restaurant that Jordan took me to for dinner. Basically it’s like a sports bar with burgers and cheese curds to die for. We both got the same, Brown Sugar & Smoked Cheddar Burger, and it was delicious. I got cheese curds because I think it’s a sin to go to here and not get them. They are the best stinkin’ curds I have ever eaten, but Jordan ended up getting fries with his meal instead. BORING.
I got these pictures from bouldertaphouse.com because I didn’t remember to take pictures until all my food was gone and these are a lot prettier than my empty plate.
After we left the Tap House we ended up swinging through Dairy Queen and getting some ice cream as well. Which I got about two bites into my small blizzard and couldn’t eat another bite. I told him that I really like it when he plans dates because I can always guarantee we’re going to be eating some good food and a lot of it.
We weren’t the only one who ate well because of date night. Little miss Juniper enjoyed my leftovers for lunch the next day! By enjoy of course I mean took one bite, threw them on the floor, and then only ate her fruit and told me she was done.
In the end this was an excellent date and exactly what we needed. I would highly recommend throwing some axes together if you have a place to do so! If you have some fun date night ideas we should try send them to me here or message me on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter! I’d love to try you’re favorite ideas!
