#WeStandTogether

I tried to sit down. I tried to write. But nothing felt appropriate. I tried to think of ideas, but I just couldn’t. My words aren’t good enough. My words don’t need to be heard. I get the privilege of being heard all the time. Many others aren’t afforded that same luxury. So this week, if you came to my corner of the internet expecting the same light-hearted content I try to offer you week after week, I’m sorry but I can’t. I can’t because my voice isn’t the one you need to hear. I can’t because my words are irrelevant. I can’t because my heart hurts. I. Can’t. I’m so overwhelmed with emotions. I feel sick for the Floyd family. I’m absolutely disgusted by society as a whole, including with myself. I’m in shock by how much I didn’t know. And I’m really scared for what kind of country I’m leaving for my daughter. I thought this war was over, but I was wrong. There is a whole group of people hurting and suffering in our country, and I didn’t know about it. That’s disgusting. This week has taught me a lot. It has taught me I still have a lot of learning left to do, so please forgive me for my ignorance as I work to educate myself. Today though, my words aren’t the ones that need to be seen or heard. This week I’m taking a break. I’m taking a break and I pray you use the time you usually spend reading my post to go expand your network and make the conscious decision to educate yourself on how life is as a person of color in America. My voice isn’t the one you need to hear right now. Thank you. #BlackLivesMatter #WeStandTogether
